Sleeping In and Night Security
The home normally has 2 members of staff on duty during the evening. This may be increased if the behaviour of individuals or other factors indicate that this is necessary for the welfare of children or the protection of staff.
Two members of staff 'sleep in' during the night time after they have ensured that all children are settled for the night.
Staff sleeping in rooms are not part of the communal living area and are located close to children's bedrooms to respond to children's night time needs. Two members of staff sleep in occupying separate sleeping in rooms.
Please refer to individual homes Statement of Purpose.
Prior to, and as part of, the routine of 'settling the children' staff complete a security check to ensure all ground floor windows and doors are secure. The Fire exit doors open automatically in the event that the alarm sounds, and staff hold regular drills (including some at night time) with children to familiarise all with this.
Please see individual homes Statement of Purpose.
